One Great Things

“A review, like the work it focuses on, has that same ability to open up something inside us, a conversation between writer and reader, words and wordsmiths. If I had world enough, and time, I’d write more reviews, long pages of praise and celebration. But I am a slow reader, an even slower reviewer. Limited as I am, I need to write for the world and time I have. I need something small in scale but large in scope.”

My dear friend Michael Schmeltzer had the wonderful idea to start looking at One Great Thing at a time. We both have young children, busy lives, and our own writing lives, but always wanted to do more to share the joy of literature we love. So, we started One Great Things — micro-reviews of literary things .

You can read Michael’s look at Brigit Pegeen Kelly’s poem “Song” here.

And my look at Judith Kitchen’s essay “Distance” here.

Come follow along as we bring you great things, one at a time.
